I want to first start out by saying how I appreciate blogs like this on this website.
A Procedure Step by Step
My hair at the front is mostly gray. My hair at the sides and back is mostly brown. Since my donor area is mostly brown, will my transplanted hair stay brown? Has anyone experienced with using Just For Men? I’ve toyed with the idea of using it modestly as it says you can keep some or even most of your gray. I’d like to keep some, but blend in some color.
I have a fair amount of hair on top about 40-50 hairs per sq inch, and thinking about getting 5000 grafts over the whole top to thicken it. I am wondering will my old hair on top grow back at the same rate as before in from day one so that after about a month will I look the same as before the transplant or will I be bald on top until new hair comes in at about 4 months?
I would like to know if you can give me some urgent advice. I have just had a hair transplant and I am going to have a check up for breast cancer. I would like to know, would the transplant area grow back after chemotherapy or would I need to have another hair transplant??
Thanks for your time.
Most of the guys I see in photos after a transplant have conventionally short hair. What if I wanted to grow it out a little; I’m not talking hippie but a little longer and fuller. Possible?
Should I be scared to start taking Propecia because of all the potential side effects?
Question #1: Dr. Epstein, I and my friends all watched your performance on Bravo TV–and we all watched with great interest.
Neither of us had ever seen a reality TV show before. I know you will be busy responding to fan mail, but we had many questions:
1. Will the transplanted hair fall out (does it actually grow back?).
2. How long do these treatments last–are they dependent on the necessary blood flow problems that might have given rise to the hair loss in the first instance?
I would like to have hair transplantation with 70 follicles/cubic centimeter. How long it takes to grow? How long I should take a leave? Are you doing the follicular unit transplantation without scaring?
Why choose the Foundation for hair restoration over a nationwide hair transplant clinic?
I had my consultation in July 08′. I wasn’t a good candidate for a procedure because of my young age. Dr. Epstein prescribed me Propecia, which I’ve been on for about a year now. I can’t say I’ve gotten the results I’ve hoped for since I did not acquire regrowth of Plany kind. Though, I believe my hair loss has slowed down a bit.
Do you use vertical or lateral slits in your hair transplant procedures. I have read on one surgeons’ website that lateral slits are superior? Also, are sutures or staples used to close the donor site? I have looked at your website. I saw what you did for the two children.
Can a patient wear a hair piece after a hair transplant procedure? What do you recommend?
After scheduling the procedure; 6/30 does not arrive soon enough. I am excited!
I have a few preparation questions for my procedure and others may come to mind in the next week or so.
For people who go for a second hair transplant procedure, do you go right into the same donor spot as before or do you go around it? What would be the best way to get the “most” donor sites the second time around?
It’s been almost six weeks since my procedure and the scabbing is healed and looks fine.
My question is, a lot of my transplanted hairs still haven’t fallen out yet. Is that normal?
I assume it’s nothing to worry about?
Hi Dr Epstein,
How long is the procedure? I assume the procedure will involve extracting from the donor area, preparing the hair, and implanting into receipient area? Will the hair grow faster if it’s taken from the scalp? Thanks for the info so far and looking forward to hearing from you.
I forgot to ask you a question. I have started using Rogaine in the crown and frontal graft area to help speed up the growth. If I keep doing that will I be in danger of losing those hairs when I stop the Rogaine? I just want to make sure it is ok to use along with the Propecia.
We have talked about the amount of hair to be transplanted. Dr. Epstein drew on the photograph and I discussed it with Aaron. Basically we seem to be talking about ‘filling in the corners’ and increasing density at the front but not bringing forward the hairline at the front – how do we specifically agree on the exact work? Do we think it will be 2400 grafts or less? If the payment is upfront, what happens if there are more or less grafts?
Will Dr. Epstein be present and in charge throughout my procedure?
The possibility of bruising on the forehead and around the eyes has been mentioned – how likely is that and how severe might it be ? I have a formal event a few days after the surgery I’m a little concerned about.
