Dr. Epstein is likely the most experienced eyebrow transplant surgeon in the world, performing on average 3 to 4 procedures weekly. He has authored several textbook chapters on his techniques, given many lectures at international scientific meetings, and his patients come from throughout the world. He takes his background as a board certified facial plastic surgeon, and is driven to provide state-of-the-art techniques and the most aesthetic approaches.
The indications for performing the eyebrow transplant procedure include loss of hair from overplucking, electrolysis, genetics, low thyroid and other hormonal etiologies, and trauma. In each case, Dr. Epstein will individualize the procedure for the patient, taking into account the patient’s goals, gender, facial structure (in particular the brow and eye region), and existing eyebrows. Some patients have had prior permanent makeup, which can usually be nicely concealed as well as made significantly more natural appearing.
Working with his specially designated eyebrow team, a luxury afforded by the volume of these procedures he performs, Dr. Epstein will first discuss with the patients his/her goals, go over the plan and anticipated design of the eyebrows, then proceed with the procedure in a safe and comfortable environment, using his accredited procedure rooms. The key aesthetic step is the making of the recipient sites, in which he utilizes tiny blades 0.5 mm in size, carefully angled to the exact direction of growth. The hairs then get meticulously placed one at a time into the recipient sites, with from 50 to as many as 350 grafts placed into each eyebrow as indicated. This is a technique that Dr. Epstein has truly mastered, and as the before and after photos and unsolicited patient testimonials show, he has many very happy patients.
Recognizing that some patients would prefer to not travel to his Miami or New York City offices, Dr. Epstein has hand selected a surgeon in Los Angeles to become affiliated with the Foundation for Hair Restoration. Patients can have their consultations conducted at any of the three main offices, as well as in Tampa, Boca Raton, and occasionally in San Francisco and London. In addition, over 50% of his patients first send photos of their eyebrows to be evaluated, allowing the procedure to then be performed on a fly in/fly out basis.
